Feeding accessories offer different ways to serve your pet’s usual food. Choose a design for the animal, food texture and portion you already use, then check the selected model’s dimensions and instructions.
Compare three feeding formats
- Patterned bowls: raised shapes divide the serving surface. Compare the pattern, bowl dimensions and space between sections with your dog’s muzzle.
- Lick mats: textured surfaces hold a thin serving of suitable food. They are feeding accessories, not chew toys.
- Gravity feeders: separate food and water containers support a different serving routine. Check container dimensions and the setup instructions.
Introduce one accessory at a time
Place the accessory on a stable surface, show your pet how to approach it and supervise the first uses. If your pet cannot comfortably access the food or starts chewing the accessory, stop and reassess the fit.
Keep the routine practical
Allow for the food used in the accessory when measuring the usual serving. Clean food-contact surfaces after use, following the item’s instructions. Do not assume a bowl or mat is dishwasher-safe unless its listing confirms this.
Read the slow feeder bowl guide or lick mat serving ideas, then explore feeding and enrichment accessories.
